ABOUT
Energy for Generations
EFG is a City of Newburyport initiative designed to support older adults in making their homes more energy efficient, comfortable, and climate-resilient. Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) and implemented by MassEnergize, this program aims to help residents navigate clean energy solutions—such as no-cost home energy assessments, weatherization upgrades, heat pump adoption, and both rooftop and community solar.
The program works through a community-driven model that emphasizes education, peer support, and access to trusted resources. At the heart of the program are our Clean Energy Counselors (CECs)—trained local volunteers who offer guidance to neighbors on energy-saving opportunities and the latest clean energy technologies. CECs serve as relatable, friendly guides—not salespeople—offering one-on-one support, hosting events, and helping residents understand available rebates and incentives.
Key components of the program include:
Helping residents schedule and complete no-cost home energy assessments.
Educating the community about Mass Save rebates and incentives.
Providing resources on heat pumps, home solar, and community solar.
Hosting events and tabling sessions at local venues like the Senior Center and community fairs.
Offering free coaching and peer support from fellow Newburyport residents who are passionate about clean energy.
Whether you’re looking to lower your utility bills, explore more sustainable heating and cooling options, or just want to learn what’s possible, EFG is here to help—at no cost and with no obligation.
